Olympia Doula Circle's doulas are happy to provide a wide variety of services to meet your pregnancy, postpartum, and breastfeeding needs.
BIRTH DOULA A birth doula is trained and experienced in labor and birth and provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after childbirth.
POSTPARTUM DOULA What a postpartum doula does changes from day to day, as the needs of the family change. Postpartum doulas do whatever a mother needs to best enjoy and care for her new baby. A large part of their role is education. They share information about baby care with parents and also make sure the mother is fed, well hydrated and comfortable.
LACTATION SERVICES Some doulas have additional experience/training with breastfeeding support. They can offer physical, emotional, and informational help as well as direct you to resources within the community for additional guidance.
PLACENTA SERVICES Some doulas also offer placenta services. The placenta contains a massive amount of crucial hormones and iron that leave the body once the placenta is born. Consuming the placenta in any form may help new mothers maintain their hormone and iron levels in the few weeks after the birth, which may speed healing and help curb fatigue and anxiety.
CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION Doulas who have gone through further training and certification as childbirth educators are able to offer private or group childbirth and/or breastfeeding classes to prepare you for birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding.
Your doula may offer any or all of these services, and sometimes more! If there is a specific service you're interested in but do not see listed please contact us so we can refer you to a provider.
